BMW S62 “High Output" LONGBLOCK

The Ultimate Evolution of the S62 Engine

Designed for enthusiasts seeking peak, naturally aspirated performance without sacrificing reliability. Our High Output S62 Engine features the same bulletproof shortblock found on our ”Better than Stock” engine but adds competition-grade CNC-ported cylinder heads, dBilas 272 duration billet camshafts, and precision-crafted valvetrain components. The final build is then paired with our carbon fiber velocity stacks, high-flow headers, full exhaust system (with catalytic converters), and custom Partee Racing tune, this rebuild delivers an impressive 435–460 WHP (at the wheels).

Technical Specifications and Engineering Excellence

Our precision-engineered approach to the S62 rebuild begins with advanced CNC machining using our RMC V40. We perform minimal deck resurfacing with the front cover attached, ensuring optimal deck angles while preserving maximum block integrity. The cylinder boring and honing process utilizes our Sunnen SV-10, expanding the cylinders by a precise .008″ to accommodate our proprietary JE oversized pistons.

Surface finish optimization is achieved through our proprietary honing process that re-exposes the silicon crystals from the Alusil substrate. We achieve specific surface roughness parameters (Ra, Rpk, RvK, Mr1, and Mr2) that surpass OEM specifications, resulting in superior oil retention and reduced friction coefficients.
The rotating assembly receives particular attention, utilizing:

– Custom JE 2618-alloy pistons with DLC-coated, high-strength steel pins
– Total Seal ring package specifically engineered for Alusil bore surfaces
– Optimized ring end-gap specifications for thermal expansion management
– Reconditioned connecting rods fitted with ARP2000 fasteners
– Precisely calculated torque specifications to maintain bearing geometry
– Enhanced load distribution characteristics over OEM hardware

The crankshaft undergoes stringent straightness verification and precision polishing. The entire rotating assembly is dynamically
balanced to within 1 gram – exceeding aerospace industry standards. This level of precision significantly reduces NVH (Noise,
Vibration, Harshness) while extending bearing life.

Cylinder head optimization includes:

– Precision deck resurfacing for optimal compression ratios
– Competition-grade multi-angle valve job using Sunnen VGS-20 equipment
– Optional motorsport-grade bronze valve guide liners or custom guides for enhanced durability

The VANOS system receives comprehensive updates:

– Implementation of Beisan-engineered sealing solutions
– Integration of latest-specification lockrings and thrust washers
– Elimination of flow-restricting solenoid screens
– Pressure testing and circuit validation
– Circuit board solder reflow for enhanced electrical reliability

Final assembly incorporates WPC-treated bearings, which feature microscopically textured surfaces for superior oil film retention. All critical clearances – including main bearings, rod bearings, and piston deck heights – are meticulously blueprinted to precise specifications. Documentation is available upon request.

The exterior receives equal attention to detail with wrinkle black powder-coated valve covers, ceramic-bead-blasted aluminum surfaces, and flat black finished auxiliary components. Every fastener is replaced with factory-correct hardware, and all wear items including guides, tensioners, and timing chains are upgraded to current BMW specifications.
