Peter Partee was the first person crazy enough to install a Motion Control Suspension ("MCS") three-way adjustable remote canister gas-pressure adjustable suspension on a road-going E39 M5. That was over 13 years ago.
- Partee Racing Customization: Since then, Partee Racing has modified and refined the MCS 3-way suspension to perfect it for the E39 M5, including spring rates and lengths, use of helper springs and Torrington bearings, custom stainless spacers to increase tire clearance, custom rear mounts to use the "pin to pin" arrangement with a clevis mount in the rear (thereby avoiding the necessary of removing the rear shelf to access the shock mount), gas line quick disconnects, and multiple clever gas canister mounting locations and configurations, ranging from completely hidden to blaringly obvious for the showier enthusiasts among us.
- Settings, Gas Pressure and Alignment: For those intimidated by the wide range and diversity of settings afforded by the MCS 3-ways, fear not! We have refined the combinations of rebound and compression settings and gas pressure to suit a wide range of uses for the E39 M5. Combined with our custom laser alignment, the Partee Racing MCS 3-Way Suspension is the very best one can have on an E39 M5.
- MCS Durability and Service: MCS 3-ways have been for quite some time the "go to" suspension for many a BMW race car--the most demanding of all suspension applications. So their durability is unquestionable. And MCS's service is responsive and effective. MCS is based in Alpharetta, Georgia, not some exotic foreign country, so if your system ever needs servicing (or a rebuild after years of use), MCS turns it around quickly.
- What's Included: Our price includes custom installation in Partee Racing's Danville, Virginia shop, including gas canister installation in the customer's preferred locations. We set all rebound and compression settings, gas pressure, and laser align your E39 M5 with Pro Hubstands that bolt to your spindles, eliminating the inaccuracy that wheels and tires otherwise insert into the alignment process. Gas pressure setting tool, spring height adjustment tools, and Ground Control spherical camber plates also are included. On a case by case basis, installation can be arrange at a different shop approved by Partee Racing, which reduces the price by $2500.
- Results: Our MCS setup completely transforms the E39 M5, enabling it to be everything from a luxury cruiser to a track weapon, all without the cost and time of changing springs or other suspension components. No one believes exactly how MUCH the MCS 3-Ways transform the E39 M5 until they drive one with the setup installed. We recently had a long-time customer who was reluctant to replace his beloved Bilsteins, but we convinced him to do so. The next day, a Saturday, at 7:30 a.m., Peter Partee received a call on his cell phone from the customer in his car screaming "Oh my God! I can't believe it! It's a different car altogether! It's perfect! Thank you soooo much!" Peter sleepily acknowledged the thanks and went back to bed, yet another smile on his face from what he loves doing most of all: giving enthusiasts what they want, even if they didn't know that they want it.
